THE DOOR TO HELL

This high-impact overlanding expedition from Tashkent (Uzbekistan) to Ashgabat and the Darvaza Gas Crater (popularly known as the “Door to Hell”) in Turkmenistan. The expedition integrates Silk Road heritage exploration, long-distance overland driving, extreme desert navigation, and cinematic storytelling across some of Central Asia’s most historically significant and visually dramatic landscapes.

The journey integrates mountain overlanding, desert navigation, city exploration, and nomadic cultural encounters, with the vision of creating a world-class transcontinental adventure narrative that showcases resilience, exploration, and cultural diversity while positioning the expedition as FIRST OF ITS KIND IN THE WORLD.

DOOR TO HELL (DARVAZA CRATER)

The Darvaza gas crater, known as the "Door to Hell," is a continuously burning 70-meter-wide, 30-meter-deep crater in Turkmenistan's Karakum Desert. Created in 1971 when Soviet engineers' drilling caused a collapse, it was ignited to burn off escaping methane, assuming it would last weeks, but it has burned for over 50 years.
